District Football Champs!

On Tuesday the Year 9 girls had a district football tournament at Mathew Arnold. We played Bishop Wand, St Paul’s, Jubilee High and of course Mathew Arnold.

Our first few games got off to a rocky start, we drew the first two - 0-0.  Once we had got a hang of playing on a 7-a -side pitch and realised how small the goal was, we finally got a deserved win; winning the game at 2-0.

With one game left we needed to push on and although exhausted, we went on the pitch with high hopes. we had possession majority of the game, but we still could not  get the goals we needed to win. We played and played well and eventually scored our first goal, then our second - we could not be stopped! At the end of the game we ended up winning 4-0.

We weren’t that confident due to the fact we had only won 2 games, but when the results were announced we were gob smacked - we had won!  District champions for 2 years in a row - 2 years that we have not conceded a goal in a district tournament.

I would like to say a big thank you to all the girls that played: Freya Woods, Amelia Witt, Lucy Carvalho, Izzy Tobin-McGurl, Lily Casserley, Amelia Cheshire and our super keeper Natalie Jones. Thanks girls, you all played so amazingly, I am so  proud to say I’m your captain and cannot wait until next year.

Another big thank you goes to Mrs Keith, this all would not be capable with out you we are all so grateful.
