School Day Consultation - Outcome

The consultation to change the end of the school day from 3:00pm to 3:10pm from Monday to Friday closed on Friday 16th May 2025.

We would like to thank those that took time to provide feedback.  Details were shared with over 1300 interested parties and we recieved a significant amount of positive feedback regarding the proposal to introduce a simplified one week timetable and an earlier lunch break. In terms of the 16 negative comments recieved, these primarily related to the fact that somefamilies will need to make alternative collection arrangements at the end of the school day.

The school has now considered all feedback and has decided to introduce the changes from the new academic year when term begins on 5th September 2025.

The reasons for the changes were:

• Lesson time will be increased and therefore learning will be maximised

• More flexibility in our curriculum offering

• Lunch and break times will be earlier, and so students will be able to manage their day more effectively

• It will ensure that finish times are staggered with the other two local secondary schools

We do not consider that this proposal would have a disproportionate or negative impact on those with protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010.  These arrangments are subject to full ratification by the Board of Trustees during the summer term.
