YEAR 7 COMMUMICATIONS DAY

On 22nd November, our Year 7 students were taken off timetable for an exciting day to learn about different ways of communication.

They designed their own key ring using braille, studied some sign language, as well as learning about the different languages that their fellow students speak, which included Welsh, Polish, Japanese and Arabic.  In addition, they learnt how to break codes, designed their own heraldry shield and used grid references to locate criminals.  Some students helped  design signs that were used in the exam’s hall.

We are very grateful that the University of Surrey sent ambassadors to deliver the braille session and to the staff of SMS who delivered their sessions with such enthusiasm.
