DEALING WITH DIFFICULT PEOPLE

On Tuesday 12th November, the Chief Executive Officers of two UK companies and one South African company came into school to deliver a ‘Dealing with Difficult People’ workshop to a group of forty students from Year 9, 10 and 11.

The session was built on the premise that one of the major difficulties in life is developing and sustaining relationships in business and personal environments. Students developed their understanding that in the workplace, they may have to report to managers who they don't like and who don't like them, others that they don't understand or agree with, whilst working alongside colleagues who can be unfriendly, manipulative or arrogant.

Students explored the idea that the way they communicate can elicit certain responses and by modifying the way they behave, they can develop better working relationships with others and create a more efficient working environment.
