POLICE FORCE CAREER

On Thursday 5th December, 130 Year 7 students listened to a careers talk. This talk was delivered by an ex-police officer who has over 30 years experience in the police force. The students heard about the different sectors you can work in, in particular his experiences within the riot police. The students particularly enjoyed listening to the stories he shared with them! Students also learnt about the route into the profession, the requirements and the training.

Finally, students learnt about his current profession as a gym instructor and the jobs you can do within a gym when you have your level 2 and 3 qualifications. It was a really informative talk and students very much enjoyed asking questions regarding life in the police. Some are now even considering it as a profession!  Student comments below:

“I learnt that if you want to become a police officer it takes a lot of hard work, but if you try you will achieve your goals .“

“I enjoyed hearing about the issues he had faced when working and what you have to do in order to become a policeman or woman, but also how many different jobs there are in the police industry.”

“This has made me think that when I have a job, I should think about how it impacts my friends and family as well as myself. “
