NAMING A PLANET COMPETITION
Schools from all over the world were invited to name a planet in a global competition by The International Astronomical Union. A name was needed for an exoplanet - a planet that exists outside of our own solar system and its star. At the moment the exoplanet is called WASP13 and the star it orbits is currently called WASP-13b.
Sunbury Manor selected 3 entries for the competition, with an important part of the entry being why the names were chosen. Congratulations to Riley Diamond, Elliot Ancell and Frank Ellis.
