GIFTED AND TALENTED EXPLORE OXFORD

This half term the gifted and talented students of Yr9 had an opportunity to learn about university life, what courses were available and what is expected of them to get into Oxford University from the guest speaker Hannah Roley from the University.

This talk got the pupils thinking about what options they need to take to get into the courses they want, what life at the University of Oxford is like, what extra curricula activities they could do at university and what sort of grades and level of hard work is expected of them and preparation expected of them to get into one of the top universities in the country, making them aim high.

To support and develop students' interests they then began to create a PowerPoint to inform us about what they are passionate about and to persuade the audience why their hobbies or preferred subject is important. The Yr8 gifted and talented students are also working on a presentation about their interests. They will continue to develop their presentations to then share at the end of the spring term to gifted, talented and most able students in a style similar to university lectures discussed with Hannah.
