RAVIOLI-NG AROUND ROME

“The Year 11 trip never to forget!”

“During the half term break, 30 Year 11 students explored the historical city of Rome for their final trip together at Sunbury Manor School.

We arrived at Heathrow Airport at 5:00am and flew to Rome. To begin the trip, we enjoyed a traditional Italian lunch together at the Piazza Navona restaurant and walked to the Time Elevator show to enjoy a 4D experience of the history of Rome. It was a great way to start the trip and learn more about the breathtaking city we would be staying in for the next few days.

Over the weekend, we visited St Peter's Basilica, Castel Sant’Angelo, The Trevi Fountain and The Spanish Steps. A highlight for Year 11 was visiting the world-renowned Colosseum. It was mesmerising; we stood in awe at the amphitheatre imagining what it would be like to see The Colosseum in the Roman era. We also visited The Roman Forum and the Largo del Torre Cat Sanctuary, with plenty of pizza, pasta and ice cream stops along the way.

On the final day, we walked to Campo Di Fiori and spent some time in the market, which had a vast selection of homemade cheese, pasta and smoothies. We took a glass elevator to the top of the Terrace at the Vittorio Emanuele Monument and had further opportunities to go souvenir shopping that afternoon. After an amazing, but exhausting, few days we packed our suitcases and said our goodbyes to Rome, hoping we would all return one day in the future.

Rome was undoubtedly the best trip I have been on at Sunbury Manor School and although our time here will soon be coming to an end, the memories we made in Rome will never be forgotten.”
