JUNIOR MATHS CHALLENGE WINNERS

1479 lYear 8 pupils at Sunbury Manor School achieved 4 golds, 4 silver and 13 bronzes in this year’s UKMT Junior Maths Challenge. Over 260,000 pupils from across the UK sat the Junior Maths Challenges with roughly the top 6% receiving a gold certificate, the next 13% silver and the next 21% bronze.

Approximately 8200 of the top students are invited to sit a follow-on competition, the Junior Mathematical Olympiad Kangaroo. Two of our students – Sarah Bentaleb and Kai Bhandari - received this top honour!

The Junior Maths Challenge is run by the UK Mathematics Trust and supported by the Institutde and Faculty of Actuaries. It is aimed at KS3 students and is sat within schools. The Maths Challenges provide material to provoke students’ mathematical thinking and test their problem solving skills in an accessible and yet challenging way. Many congratulations to the students for their success in this challenge!
