Posted on: 1/12/2016GIFTED AND TALENTEDOn Wednesday 19th October, we were pleased to welcome Hannah Rolley - Recruitment & Schools Programme Officer at St Hilda’s College (Oxford University) - to speak to our Gifted and More Able year 10 students. During Hannah’s visit, students were given an introduction into life at university, expectations for entry into university (and Oxford specifically) and a general overview of the broad spectrum of courses available to study. Students were able to speak openly about this; expressing opinions, worries and concerns about course selection, admittance and the financial implications of further study. Hannah was able to discuss these concerns with the students, providing guidance and ‘next steps’ for them to investigate. Student comments on participation include “It gave me a better insight of university”, “it gave me the motivation to have a look at possible courses I could pursue and I feel a little more confident about going to university” and “she [Hannah] answered our questions in a lot of detail”. Posted on: 13/10/2016LEAGUE TABLES TOP 21% FOR SUNBURY MANORThe Headteacher is delighted to announce that Sunbury Manor are in the top 21% of schools in England, as shown in the provisional league figures that were published today. The results reflect the performance of pupils who finished Key Stage 4 in 2016. Progress 8 shows how students have progressed between Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 4, compared to other pupils in other schools. We are also delighted that the destination measure shows that far more Sunbury Manor students (97%) are staying in education or employment for at least two terms after Key Stage 4, than in England (94%) or Surrey (95%).
