Home Learning
All home learning at Sunbury Manor falls under two categories:
1. Reading
Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 are set 30 minutes of reading each week via the Sparx Reader platform, which they must complete.
In addition, students in all year groups may be set subject-specific reading tasks across the different curriculum disciplines. All students are encouraged to develop a breadth of reading.
2. ASPIRE Tasks
ASPIRE tasks are set in each subject to reinforce and consolidate learning. Tasks are connected to content that students are currently learning or have previously learnt in class.
Students are provided with knowledge organisers and vocabulary lists for each subject to support them in completing these tasks.
In Years 7, 8 and 9, each ASPIRE task takes a maximum of 20 minutes and is set weekly in English, maths and science and every two weeks in all other subjects.
In Years 10 and 11, ASPIRE tasks are set weekly in all subjects and take a maximum of 30 minutes each.
ASPIRE tasks require students to:
- A – Apply
- S – Summarise
- P – Prepare
- I – Improve
- R – Recall or Revise
- E – Explain their learning
Students have one week to complete their reading and ASPIRE tasks.
Students are provided with a hard copy of the knowledge organisers for each half term. Online copies of the booklets, compiled in alphabetical order by subject, can be accessed below.
