Sunbury Manor School Recognised for Continued Improvement in Latest Ofsted Monitoring Visit
Sunbury Manor School has been commended by Ofsted for the clear progress it has made in strengthening leadership, improving teaching, and creating a positive learning environment, following its latest monitoring visit on 16th and 17th September 2025. Inspectors praised the school’s leadership team for taking “the right actions, in the right order, at the right pace” to drive sustained improvement.
The report described the period since the previous visit as “one of consolidating and building upon the many changes that have taken place”. Inspectors highlighted that “the leadership changes noted in the previous monitoring inspection in March 2025 have brought greater stability to the school,” and that Sunbury Manor has “further strengthened its leadership capacity”. Leaders were praised for their clear and focused approach, with Ofsted noting that “you and your team have a precise understanding of which areas have improved the most effectively and which still require further development.” Staff spoke positively about the school’s leadership, telling inspectors that they “value your systematic approach to school improvement,” and that they particularly appreciate the “relevant and timely professional development they receive around teaching and learning.”
Inspectors also recognised the positive impact of the school’s professional development programme, stating that “the school is providing ongoing professional development to help staff understand how to implement the curriculum in the most effective way.” They found that, in many classrooms, “staff use their strong subject knowledge to model learning effectively. They explain new vocabulary and concepts in a clear way and check pupils’ understanding.”
Behaviour across the school was also described as improving, with Ofsted reporting that “staff have become more consistent in applying the school’s behaviour policy” and that “pupils recognise that behaviour is improving.” Inspectors further praised changes to the school day, noting that “adjustments to the structure of the school day are proving successful” and that “lesson transitions are calm and swift as pupils now recognise the importance of being on time.”
Safeguarding remains a clear strength. Ofsted confirmed that “safeguarding continues to be effective” and that there is “a well-established culture of safeguarding that pupils and staff speak about positively.” Staff were described as confident in their safeguarding knowledge and training, with inspectors noting that the safeguarding team maintains “detailed oversight of pupils’ whereabouts when they are not in school,” which was recognised as “a key strength.”
Headteacher David Lee welcomed the findings, saying: “We are extremely pleased that Ofsted has recognised the continued progress being made at Sunbury Manor. The report highlights the strength of our leadership, the stability we have built, and the professionalism and commitment of our staff. We know there is still more to do, but we are proud of how far we have come as a school community. The school’s leadership team and trustees remain committed to ensuring that these improvements continue and that every pupil benefits from a high-quality education in a safe, supportive, and aspirational environment.”
