Cricket Cup Final - Year 8

Match Report: Sunbury Manor vs St Paul’s

An enthralling encounter and a nail-biting finish ended with Sunbury Manor cricket champions.

Us electing to bowl first, we started very well taking some early wickets, having 3 wickets in the first 4 overs. However, some partnerships with the bat brought them back into the game and after 15 overs, St Pauls finished on 60/8.

With us needing 61 to win, we added some nice runs to start off our chase. However, once we lost one a heap of them came at once and we were left languishing at 36/6. Our 8th wicket partnership required 24 to win off of 27 balls. With Arjun and Rohit battling to keep the final alive the rest of the team was praying for the match to go our way. With the help of some wides, no balls and some lovely drives from Arjun, we needed 4 to win off the final over (6 balls) and with every wide having to be re bowled, we knew the win was there for the taking.  With 3 wide balls plus 1 run with the bat, the chase was done with 5 balls to spare!

So proud of the team!  Well done to Zak for 16 runs with the bat and a special partnership at the end from Rohit and Arjun to save the game for us. Also, well done to Alex, Evan and Arjun for taking two wickets with the ball and to Adam for dealing with some quick balls as wicket keeper.  Lastly, another well done to Jayden and Arjun for taking nice catches.

Bring on next season!
