College Applications
Most Colleges will ask for an online application to be submitted. There is certain information that you will need to provide when completing this application, along with a short personal statement.
Form
In this section, you will need to provide your:
- Personal details - address, date of birth, phone number, email address, parent/guardian contact information.
- Intended course choices.
- Your GCSE subjects and predicted grades (these will be on your most recent progress report. If you have misplaced this, speak to your tutor or teachers and they can print another copy for you).
Personal Statement
There is a word limit to this so it’s important your write clearly and concisely. There are usually two sections to this part of the application:
- Personal statement – this is where the college wants to find out what extra-curricular activities you do. For example, any sports clubs in school or outside of school, whether you play a musical instrument, take part in the school productions, are a prefect or sports captain etc.
- Future aspirations – this is where the college want to know what you would like to do in the future e.g. an apprenticeship, university or travelling the world. You might also talk about what career you would like to do and why.
Make sure your passion and ambition come across and don’t sell yourself short! Remember, the college just want to know more about who you are as a person.
