Year 11 Sports Studies

To complete an element of their outdoor activity unit, our Year 11 Sports Studies students recently visited High Ashurst Outdoor Education Centre in Dorking.  The aim of the trip was for the students to develop their knowledge and skills in outdoor activities.

Their day began with the high rope activities; the students were provided with a harness and helmet so they could tackle the tough high ropes course.  Nerves were running high as the top and height of ‘Jacob’s Ladder’ and ‘The Perch’ came into sight.  All the groups performed fantastically well, despite it being very challenging and nerve racking as they got higher off the ground.  After lunch, they tackled mountain biking on the North Downs, before heading off around Ranmore Common where the students were taught some basic bike handling skills; skills they would require to tackle their mountain biking circuit.

The students had a fantastic day at High Ashurst and they learnt many new skills which will provide them with the knowledge they require to complete their outdoor activity unit to an exceptional standard.
