YEAR 7 WORLD BOOK DAY COMPETITION

In a regular year, SMS celebrates World Book Day in style! From simple class quizzes, to tutor group competitions, to whole-day-fancy-dress-readathons, we take the opportunity to get together, celebrate our favourite books and raise money for charity. Last year, we raised an amazing £1,555 for Read for Good and we can’t wait to top it next year!

Although this year’s celebrations have had to take a back seat, we still managed to run our quizzes and lessons remotely. Students in KS3 had the opportunity to take part and share teachers’ favourite stories. Through the World Book Day organisation’s live streams, they also had the chance to learn all about becoming successful authors and creating their own fantastic characters.

All of this is just in time for our own Creative Writing competition which runs until the 1st April. Watch this space for the winners!

Many congratulations to Jeevan Sond, Alfie Canning and Jack Rice (pictured) for coming top of the pops in the World Book Day Quiz.

Super proud of these boys for their efforts and enthusiasm.  Enjoy your prizes!
