ST MARY’S UNI: YEAR 9 OPTIONS’ WORKSHOPS

On Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th January, St. Mary's University delivered Options’ Workshops to the whole of Year 9. During the workshops, students learnt a little more about life at University before discussing their options.

They gained a better understanding of where different subjects can take you in the future. Students also had conversations with current University Students about their degrees and where their GCSE options have taken them.

Having this opportunity to discuss their options amongst their peers, university students and teachers made students feel more comfortable about the decisions they have to make.

What did you enjoy most about the workshop?

· That I could talk to people who already study the subjects I want to do, so I could get some very useful information from them.

What did you learn?

· I learnt how different options lead to different jobs and opportunities.

· That you could take several different paths after college.

How has this helped your thoughts on your Year 9 options/future career?

· This has helped me have a clear understanding of which options for GCSE would be helpful and useful for certain careers.

· That one subject can open many doors.
