SUNBURY MANOR PLASTIC REVOLUTION

This year’s Biology week celebrations took a very exciting turn with the launch of the Sunbury Manor Plastic Revolution! The theme for this year was the growing problem of plastic pollution and its effect on the environment, with a particular focus on what we can do as a school community to make meaningful change. Miss Rendle delivered assemblies to all year groups on the plastic problem, the surprising products that contain plastic and easy ways everybody could become more environmentally friendly. Students were shocked to hear about the issues plastics cause in the environment and were enthused to join the revolution!

A committee of passionate staff and students has been formed and will be working throughout the year to raise awareness in the local area, as well as encourage more people to make small changes that could make a BIG difference. Watch this space for more news on the committee’s work…

Special thanks go to the Year 7 and 8 students who participated in the Bioplastics practical (Rebekah Cloake, Jessica Cloake, Amelia Riches, Oliver Pearce, Jonny Smith), and all those who entered the Plastic Pollution Poster competition… winner to be announced in the next issue.
