'GAME CHANGERS' CHRISTMAS FILMING

On Wednesday 30th November students at Sunbury Manor had a ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity to appear on National TV.  Sky visited school to film part of the TV programme ‘Game Changers’.  Sky Sports ‘Game Changers’ is a programme which is aired on Sky Sports 1 every Friday and Saturday.

This was an exciting and unforgettable opportunity for the fifty year 7 and 8 students to be involved in the filming of this episode. The day started with a brief introduction with the producer, presenter and the film crew and then the filming began. The first feature of the show was the ‘Super School Challenge’ which involved a tightly fought ‘target throwing’ game between year 7 and year 8. Year 7 set the benchmark high with a score of 34 which couldn’t be challenged by the year 8’s.

The year 8 netball and Boys’ Rugby 7’s Team then gained the opportunity to showcase their successes on camera. The year 8 netball team have been unbeaten since forming in year 7 and the Rugby 7’s team recently became District Champions. Both teams were filmed training and a few lucky individuals from both teams were interviewed about their successes.

The second half of the day saw the students playing basketball and bench ball whilst some students were used to form the opening credits to the show. The highlight of the day was the ‘Christmas Quiz’ which involved the presenter asking lots of Christmas related questions to four chosen students. This feature included a rendition of ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’ and lots of funny replies to the lots of different Christmas questions.

Sky were very impressed with our students and had high praise for all those involved. To watch this episode, you will need to tune into Sky Sports 1 at 8.30pm on Saturday 10th December. We are all looking forward to seeing Sunbury Manor featured on this seasonal episode of the show.
