BTEC MUSIC EVENING

The Year 11 BTEC students gave a wonderful evening of music spanning nearly 60 years, from The Kinks, Oasis and McFly to the more current artists such as Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Sam Smith.  There were also performances from the musicals Pocahontas and Les Misérables.

The evening started with Vikraant Sandhu and Harsidhak Dhamija who performed ‘Wonderwall’ with a difference – the Cajon, a drum box.

Ryan Bentley certainly had that rock appeal with his song ‘All day and all of the night’ and ‘Demons’. Charlotte Ellery, Amber Haylock, Bethany Kingston and Molly Ayley sang a selection of songs from Sam Smith to Adele that were sensitive and heartfelt.

Chloe Blackburn wowed us with her rendition of Amy Winehouse’s ‘You know I’m no good’ and Courtney Bartlett’s ‘DNA’ had real emotion and clarity.

Accompanied by Lauren Miles’s amazing technical skill on the guitar was Kiera Temple-Smith’s sweet and pure vocals in songs ‘Say you won’t let go’ and ‘Havana’.

Who knew that Henry Bourne was a drum kit rock star?!

Louisa Hamlett’s ‘Pocahontas’ was beautifully sung as she accompanied herself on the piano. Also beautifully and expressively sung was Katie Goodman’s ‘All I ask and ‘I dreamed a dream’.

Even though Billy Light was almost a permanent fixture on stage as guitar accompanist, his ‘Five colours in her hair’ by McFly was a lively and buoyant end to a great evening!
