SPORTS STUDIES

On Wednesday 27th February, the Year 10 OCR Sport Studies group went on a trip to High Ashurst to complete a part of their outdoor activity unit. The unseasonal hot weather was a lovely surprise and made for a fantastic day. The aim of the trip was for the students to develop their knowledge and skills in outdoor activities.

The day started with some mountain biking on the North Downs, before heading off around Ranmore Common where the students were taught some basic bike handling skills; skills they would require to tackle their mountain biking circuit.  After lunch in the sunshine, the students were provided with a harness and helmet so they could tackle the high ropes course.  Nerves were running high at the sight of the top of ‘Jacob’s Ladder’ and ‘The Perch’.  All the groups performed fantastically well, despite it being very challenging and nerve racking as they got higher off the ground.

The students had a fantastic day at High Ashurst and they learnt many new skills that will help them complete their outdoor activity unit to a good standard.
