Enrichment & Educational Visits
We are aware that we have a responsibility to broaden the horizon of the students in our care and endeavour to do so as often as we can. To that end, we offer a large number of trips, both day and residential, in the UK, nationally and internationally. A vast number of students have been involved in school trips in the past academic year. Proposed trips for the forthcoming year include: Ypres Battlefields, Paris and Prague. Following several successful ski trips, the next one is planned for Easter 2017 to the USA.
The highlight for Year 7 students is the Residential Camp, which takes place in the Summer Term. This summer, the students went to Blacklands Farm near East Grinstead where they enjoyed a whole range of outdoor activities over 2 days including a 5 mile night hike, kayaking, climbing, archery, abseiling, team building activities and The Perch, rounded off with an evening around the camp fire.
We are very proud to be one of only two schools in Surrey who have the opportunity to put students forward to be Ballboys and Ballgirls at Wimbledon. Students in Years 9 and 10 are invited to attend the start of the selection process and training in November each year. The training, which begins in school, is extremely tough and only the very best and most determined make it through to Wimbledon.
Regarded as the best in the World, the Ballboys and Ballgirls of Wimbledon must be able to work under pressure. The students from Sunbury Manor School prove year after year that not only can they cope with that pressure but they can do so whilst performing at the highest standards. It is always a matter of immense pride when we see our students appearing on the Show Courts of Wimbledon, especially when some of them are chosen to work on Centre Court.
